Art Paintings

Art paintings can be created from a variety of materials. Paints have been used for many years. In fact, plenty of cave paintings, or pictographs, still exist today thousands of years after their initial creation.

Oil materials have been a very popular and traditional media choice for art paintings. Tempera is another traditional paint option, though it is less familiar today. Watercolor paints are a more common supply, however they are often considered more of a drawing material.

Acrylic paints have been an option for creating art paintings since about the 1950s. These are particularly useful when it comes to creating mixed media works. Oils are known for their ability to eat through many additional materials over time. Acrylics are a gentler choice for many different applications.
