Fine Art

Fine art can be defined in many different ways. To some, the term can be used in reference to works that are likely to be found within a gallery. At the same time, may galleries will have different themes and emphases. For that reason, other people often have more specific definitions.

It can be very beneficial to discuss fine art in contrast to commercial art. Fine art tends to be more oriented toward a concept or exploration. Commercial art is generally done to sell products or a brand name.

The line between fine art and commercial art is still not distinct, however. If is very common for people to argue about whether or not a work or series belongs within a gallery. It is also common for product design to be envisioned on a deep and life-changing level. Some artists find themselves particularly drawn to the exploration of the line between fine and commercial art.
