Framed Art
Framed art makes use of picture frames for several different reasons. It is often done simply so that a picture can be more easily displayed upon a wall. Generally, such items have wiring or another support feature on the back in order to keep any hooks or screws out of sight.
Another purpose of framed art is to have a well protected piece. A frame created from a quality material will prevent a work from getting dings or scratches on its edges when it is dropped or bumped into. A glass surface may also provide extra protection, however consideration for any moisture avoiding needs should be taken under such circumstances.
Finally, a person may choose to have framed art because he or she feels that the frame enhances the work. This is particularly true of those pieces created in more traditional figurative styles as may be viewed within the Louvre. On the other hand, many contemporary artists feel that frames detract from their original works.
